The Jumpin' Jive Club
(South West Swing disclaimer)

A new class for Lindy Hop dance and Jive at Halberton, near Tiverton (3 miles from J27 on the M5) is being taught by Dave and Ann who have had years of experience with the best teachers in the region.

Lindy Hop, which is synomynous with Jive, Jitterbug and Rock and Roll, was brought to Britain in the 1940's and much danced to fast Swing and Boogie Woogie music, but can equally be danced to modern and slower music.

The classes are aimed at complete beginners as well as those who have had some dance experience and also:

  • Rock & Roll dancers who want to learn or improve Jive
  • Modern Jivers who want to jive to faster music
  • Ballroom dancers who want to learn or improve the 'Jive'
  • Music lovers of the 1940/50's era
The emphasis in these lessons is on footwork, lead & follow and musicality from slow to fast tempos in a learning but relaxed and fun atmosphere.

The current regular class is held every Thursday evening from 7.30pm – 10.00pm at Halberton Village Hall, Halberton, near Tiverton - Venue Map. There is a social club/bar adjoining the hall and ample free parking at the rear.
